I was expecting something different. It is a good book though.
Not what I was looking for
Written with so much truth and emotion - I immediately connected with the author. Such bravery and courage to pen thoughts to paper. I pray for your continued strength - may your writings continue to liberate and heal!
I bought this a few months after unexpectedly losing my own dad and looking for alternative ways to help with coping. Great read. I've been reading the letters here and there when I need it.
This book was cathartic for me. I easily identified with the author's experience with grief during the first year after his father's death. I was amazed by his honesty and willingness to navigate his true thoughts and feelings during this dark time. I didn't make it through the first page before I welled up with tears, at other points I gasped out loud, and at one point I was mad I started reading it so late in the evening because I could not put it down (it's 3am now). While parts were very sad, I'm so glad I read it, I finished with feelings of hope and healing, and a deeper understanding of the human experience.
I lost my dad a year before I bought your book. I was hoping for closure but still know that is a gift from within. Thank you for your words, your very real anger and unanswered pain. I hope to come to terms with my own soon, leaving the questions aside and relearn to walk with the living.
